Location: At end of Long Nook Road (off Rt.Seasonal Amenities: Lifeguard, restroom facilities.Crowd Factor: Not usually overly crowded. But I thought some of you might appreciate fair warning! -) Body of Water: Atlantic Ocean (FYI: Nude sunbathing is not allowed, and you might be fined if you're caught "sans suit".) Personally, I've never ventured to those farthest reaches at Longnook Beach in warm weather. It's also a beach where, in the most remote part of the beach, sunbathers sometimes go au naturel. If it turns your feet an odd color, no need to worry. Īs you make your way down the dune to the beach, you might notice an orange-y color in the sand - some sort of sediment, they say. However, it's also a somewhat unusual beach in a few ways. This large, somewhat isolated, and very picturesque beach is a favorite Truro beach for swimmers, boogie-boarders and families. 6 to Head of the Meadow Road to Old Kings Highway to Coast Guard Road. 6 to Highland Road to Coast Guard Road or Rt. ![]() Seasonal Amenities: None, other than restroom facilities.Crowd Factor: Not crowded, due to very limited parking.A nice feature of this beach is that it's less "peopled" than some other ocean beaches on the Outer Cape. and Truro's large, golden-sand Coast Guard Beach is no exception. Not to be confused with the Coast Guard Beach farther south in Eastham, this Coast Guard Beach is in Truro - just down the road from Highland Lighthouse. Town-Managed Truro MA Beaches Coast Guard Beach Handicap Access: During the summer months, there's a Mobi-Mat and beach wheelchair available at the town-managed portion of the beach. The other is a Cape Cod National Seashore lot that requires a daily fee or CCNS pass. One is managed by the town and requires a town of Truro sticker or payment of a daily fee. Perhaps that's because there's plenty of room to roam and be alone, if that's what you want to do. Head of the Meadow is one of my favorite beaches on the Cape Cod National Seashore.Īlthough it's a popular spot for sunbathers and surfers during the summer months, to me there's always something peaceful-feeling about Head of the Meadow. Tomorrow, Thirsday says showers, Friday no rain.Ĭlose to Nauset is Salt Pond Visitor Center I would visit too.Head of the Meadow Beach (CCNS and Town-Owned) this beach has sand flats, good sand for critters, tidal pools. Skaket beach tide is 11 - 12 noon next 2 days. Nauset high tide is 11 - 12 noon next 2 days PLUS you can also go to Skaket beach on bayside using the same sticker. You do know the water is COLD at these beaches. This is most like the outer beaches.but they have food truck, bathrooms, changing rooms, lifeguards to watch for sharks. The Beachcomber is another example of a town beach and the restaurant is at the top of a dramatic tall dune in Wellfleet and is a good option if you don't have too much beach gear to lug back to the top at the end of your beach day. However if you walk a ways down the beach away from the entry area then you can have a more quiet spot. You are here in high season so the beaches will be very busy every day. Note that Coast Guard beach in Eastham requires you to park and take a shuttle to the beach. Town beaches like Nauset Beach in East Orleans (not Nauset in Eastham) are the same beach but the towns allow food trucks so that you have one less thing to pack. These beaches are good for kids who can brave the cold water (quite a change after the 70 degree water temp that you've been experiencing of Nantucket Sound) and like to use their boogie boards in the waves.Īlso, National Seashore beaches do not have any food/drink for purchase so plan for lunch. Typically but not always folks go to these beaches for big waves. Take a look at the live beach cam inside the link above. The Atlantic coast beaches: some of them are town beaches and others are National Seashore. ![]()
